M.E.C.A. is a private Christian school. I develop and teach the curricula for the following subjects: Mathematics, Art, and Critical Issues. The school is a Pre-K through 8th Grade school with a rather small enrollment currently. This allows us to work more individually with each student to help facillitate their personal education needs. We also have greater flexibility in exposing the kids to ural enrichment through the various field trips we can take. Even though the school has entered its seventh year this 2000-2001 academic calendar, the growth and development of the vision of the school is still new. This makes for a trail-blazing type of atmosphere, and it also keeps the staff learning and relearning how best to meet the total needs of our student body. We work with a wide variety of students, manyof whom have slipped through the cracks of the traditional educational system. Throughout any given day, I must assume the role of teacher, coun-selor, mediator, friend, big brother, and bus driver. All the variety really keeps me on my toes, and I thoroughly enjoy the challenges. |
