Thanks to everyone who showed up to the coffeehouse last tuesday. I must say that I am VERY impressed with the large turnout. It was a pure joy to be able to participate.
There was some things that I planned to talk about, but every thing went so fast...I guess I forgot. In the coming digests I will be posting some of these topics.
In the next digest the topic will be using resources on the internet to find a job.
If anybody has anything to say about finding a job using the internet, please send your email to: artiwu@spudart.org

During Thanksgiving break, check out this absolute must-see show at the Chicago Art Institute. The show is designed so you maneuver around a maze of rooms encountering room upon room of video installations. (They are simply freakin' awesome.)
If you see the show, send your comments to: artiwu@spudart.org

Bill Viola: A 25-Year Survey
October 16, 1999-January 9, 2000
One of the largest solo exhibitions ever devoted to the work of a video artist, Bill Viola: A 25-Year Survey presents more than 14 video installations, along with 22 videotapes, drawings, and notebooks of the past 25 years of Viola's career. The video installations, total environments that often envelop the viewer in sound and image, incorporate sophisticated state-of-the-art multi-media technologies. Viola demonstrates that these tools can be used simply and gracefully in the service of art. Drawing from such inspirations as Islamic Sufism, Christian mysticism, and Zen Buddhism, each artwork in the exhibition intertwines video technology with spirituality, projecting a direct personal experience for the viewer. In addition to the major video installation pieces, this mid-career survey of Viola's work also includes a screening of the artist's acclaimed single-channel video works of the past 25 years, and a full complement of his preparatory drawings and notebooks.
