hey all. i was just talking to vince on the phone last night and he feels so terrible about being a shit about keeping in touch with everyone (he didn't use the word shit though). i told him i'd help get the word out about his wedding because he's worried no one will come and he's been so obscenely busy he hasn't had time to get out any invitations. he'd love for anyone who can come to be there and hopes to see as many of you as possible at the wedding! here's the info:
vince fournier and chrissy phillips
november 11th
2 p.m.
canton, il
evangelical free church
r.s.v.p. kathleen and william phillips
1485 east locust, canton, il 61520-2323
the directions i have are from bloomington, but i'll include them anyway because they may be of some use:
take 74 west, get on 474, take the bartonville exit and follow route 24 straight through bartonville, route 24 changes into route 9 which goes into canton, turn right onto bradley road at the 4-way (there may not be a road sign but it should be the only 4-way you encounter), from bradley turn left onto chestnut and the church will be on the left hand side of the road
here's vince's address and number in case you can't go but still want to congratulate him:
507 highland drive,
chanhassen, mn 55317

love,

The blurb board on artiwu is totally revamped. When you post a response on the website, it automatically appears on the site.

Blurb out a response and read others blurbs at:

this week's question posted by Matthew Shultz. Thanks!
(please excuse the ads, the page is hosted by a 3rd party, and they stick their own ads on this section...artiwu gets no money for this, only the bulletin board service).

Subject: trade your art

LET'S TRADE SOME ART AT HOMECOMING
- Create Your Own Artist Trading Card And Trade It With Others
Artist trading cards are a growing phenomenon internationally. The cards are traded like Pokemon or baseball cards, but feature different artists. Like the Dada movement of the early 20th century, trading cards are a way of breaking down the hierarchy of the art world.
CBC 10/02/00
- WHAT ARE THESE THINGS?
the ARTIST TRADING CARD is basically a variation of the well-known trading cards one can buy - same size (64 x 89 millimeters / 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch).
but it differs in the way it is produced : it is either an original or a very small edition. they are miniature works of art.
one can make single cards or small editions. on the back of the card is the signature, the date and the number (if the card is part of an edition).
all techniques and materials are allowed.
- WHAT TYPES OF ART ARE ACCEPTED?
all types of art are accepted, all techniques (paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, rubberstamp works, mixed media, found images, assemblages, etc.). only rule is the size: 64 x 89 mm or 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.
- ARE THE CARDS TO BE LAMINATED?
no. the cards don't have to be laminated nor in single sleeves.
- THE TRADE
the concept of ATC is the person-to-person trade, as well as trading by mail. the most fun is to trade person-to-person though. the basic idea is the card-for-card trade.
So I was thinking it would be fun to make these little simple pieces of art and trade them during homecoming. I'll make up a set of cards, and if anyone wants to trade, we can trade.
I'll have to set up a time during homecoming weekend and place to trade these things.
Let me know what you think and I'll set a time in next tuesday's digest.
