ARTNews recently published two articles online about Gore's and Bush's relationship with the arts. The Bush article did manage to put Bush in a slightly positive light with the visual arts despite his moderate stance on the visual arts. While the article on Gore had no problem showing Gore's definite positive support for the arts.
Headlines:
"Al Gore favors public funding for the arts, has a passion for van Goghand relaxes by painting abstractions "
"George W. Bush takes a moderate stance on government support and has a taste for American Western art."

A good friend of mine has become the Art Director at a very hip culture
web zine (www.Indieplanet.com) in NYC. She says that she would love to get
some submissions from critics and writers on the Chicago scene (show
reviews, exhibition press releases, art features articles, etc.). This would
be a great opportunity to get some exposure in NYC of the Chicago
'othergroup' crowd. You can contact her at Ilyse Soutine,
Ilyse@indieplanet.com.
Cheers, Sabrina

HOW WE SEE ART: Over the next few months scientists will be tracking the eye
movements of thousands of visitors to an exhibition at the National Gallery
in London. "It will be the biggest investigation ever carried out into how
humans absorb images and how artists' use of colour and texture affects the
way a painting 'works'." The Independent (London) 10/15/00
