Subject: IWU art alum to open design/art store in bloomington
From: Melanie Ginavan (92)

I'm in the process of starting a contemporary furnishings/accessories store here in downtown bloomington. It's planned to be right next to Crazy Planet, at 412 N. Main. My mission with this store is to bring good design to town. High quality stuff that showcases the best in modern style. I'm planning to have stuff from Denmark, Germany, Italy, the US, and various other places that are doing design right!

Many of the people I've spoken to about their merchandise are artisans in their own right, and I'd like to combine this with artwork by young artists who might be interested in having their work put up for sale. It would be on a consignment basis, and the store could even plan 'group openings' for the artists being shown at the time.

Tillie, a three-year-old terrier from Brooklyn is, according to her Web site, "the world's preeminent canine artist." She is indeed a rising star among visual artists on the New York City contemporary art scene.

"She'll bite you if you get in the way of her work."
"There's a thin line between destruction and creation for her."
